Emily Carruthers, B.Mus., MMT, RP, MTA

Emily is an accredited music therapist who graduated from the Master of Music Therapy program at Wilfrid Laurier University. She has clinical experience with children who have complex health challenges, adolescents experiencing mental health issues, and with the elderly. Emily has completed clinical placements at Baycrest, a geriatric nursing home and hospital in Toronto and Grand River Hospital in Kitchener. Emily possesses an Honors Bachelor of Music in Voice, which has enabled her to develop strong vocal musicianship, a skill she uses regularly in sessions. Emily has taught piano and voice, and loves to help students reach their potential. She has also worked supporting individuals with physical and developmental exceptionalities in their daily life, and in a camp setting. Emily loves meeting new people and helping them to learn about themselves through music.

Jeff Burton, BMT. MTA
Music Therapist & Instructor
Jeff graduated in 2015 from the Honours Bachelor of Music Therapy program at Wilfrid Laurier University. His clinical experience includes working with children, young adults, and older adults that live with a variety of health issues. Jeff’s musical background includes his Grade 8 certification in piano and guitar as well as his 4 years of university training on the clarinet. He has several years of experience with song writing and stage performance. Jeff has been teaching music for the past nine years to a variety of different individuals of all ages and abilities. Jeff is very passionate about music and he loves being able to use his passion to help both his students and music therapy clients to achieve their goals.

KIJENGLE CREATORS
Jenny Chou, BA (Hons.)
Jenny holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Family & Child Studies from the University of Guelph. She was employed as the Volunteer & Inclusion Coordinator for the City of Guelph, when she developed and ran summer camps for children and youth with special needs. Jenny and Kimberly created and ran the first KiJengle group class in February of 2008, and since then Jenny has been devoting much of her free time to being a Group Instructor as well as KiJengle's Administrative Manager, all while working for the City of Kitchener. She is devoted to the continuing development of KiJengle's services.
Kimberly Manning, MMT, MTA
Kimberly is an accredited music therapist who holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University, and she completed her Master's of Music Therapy (MMT) from WLU in 2010. Her musical background has included professional piano and voice training as well as guitar playing, songwriting and stage performances. Kimberly has been teaching music in individual and group settings since September of 2007, and has been teaching students with special needs since February 2008. She has worked with a wide variety of music therapy clients in both individual and group settings. She absolutely loves what she does, and is devoted to her work with KiJengle in both the educational and therapeutic streams.
